Since some were asking about it here are some extra tidbits:
Their Maka tattoo is not automatically changed when they enter a profession and they are only given a status tattoo when they declare that role the exceptions being the gender tattoos that they get at age 15, many tribes no longer give a gender tattoo and some only give the Heyoka tattoo. The matriarch tattoo is given to the oldest female in a family if they can properly run their family unit.
Social tats indicate guilds, groups, or government. A White-Ash is not limited to one of these tattoos. There are also a whole host of other tattoos a White-Ash can get that are associated with social tats for instance Janus has a mark on both sides of his face coming up from under the jaw, this celebrates his first kill since one of his shoulder tattoos indicates that hes either a hunter or assassin. Some opt not to get these "sub" social tattoos.
All children at age 10 get their Maka tattoo and when they get this they are considered offcially part of the tribe the reason for this is that in the past it was not a deffiante thing that a child would survive to be that age.
Tibull's Spiral: He got this tattoo commenorate a perticular battle.
June's Flower: June likes to learn about herbs, has a nack for growing plants and is known to eat flowers.
So a White-Ash could eventually end up covered in tattoos ^.^
